Your baby’s first year is full of little moments you’ll want to remember.
There isn’t one perfect age for baby photography.
Every stage between 3 and 12 months brings something different, from those first big smiles and growing curiosity to sitting independently, crawling and watching them change before your eyes from baby to toddler.
My baby photography sessions take place in my Thornbury studio in Melbourne’s inner north and are relaxed, playful and tailored to your baby’s age and personality.
The best time for a baby photoshoot simply depends entirely on which stage you want to remember. So whether your baby is mastering tummy time, starting to pull themselves up and practising those first wobbly steps, or you simply want to capture your little family together as it is right now, I’d love to capture it before it’s gone.

I keep my baby photography simple, natural and timeless, with minimal styling so the focus stays firmly on your little person. That magic window when your little one has finally mastered sitting confidently unaided, but isn’t quite on the move.
Sitter photoshoots are my absolute favourite!
Bubs at this age are super expressive, inquisitive, giggly, full of smiles, and there are often adorable baby rolls galore.
They are designed for babies who can sit independently. As every baby develops at their own pace, this may be any time between 6-10 months.

‘Bubs + Us’ is for families who want to document their baby’s first-year milestones while also getting in the photographs themselves.
We’ll photograph your baby individually as well as with the people who make up their little world – parents, brothers and sisters, grandparents.

Cake Smash + Splash photoshoots are a fun and messy way to celebrate your baby turning one.
Booked in the weeks leading up to their birthday, these portraits are ideal for creating custom first-birthday invitations, party decor, or thank-you cards.

WHAT IS A BABY PHOTOSHOOT LIKE?
Short and snappy – yes, pun intended.
Babies at this age have very short attention spans, so I keep baby sessions short, fast-paced, and lots of fun. I’ll follow your little one’s lead, working around their personality and mood, giving them plenty of time to warm up to me and my camera.
We’ll play, explore, and make time for heaps of cuddles with you along the way, giving me the chance to capture their real expressions, natural curiosity and all those little mannerisms that are completely them.
The result is a gallery that feels like your baby at this exact moment in time.
SHOULD PARENTS BE IN BABY PHOTOS TO?
Absolutely. Your camera roll is probably full of photographs of your baby, but I’m willing to bet there are only a handful of photographs of the two of you together that aren’t selfies.
A ‘Bubs + Us’ session gives you the baby portraits you want while also putting YOU into your family’s photographs. I’ll photograph your baby alone, with each parent, with siblings and your whole family together.
You don’t need to worry about coaxing your baby to sit still and smile at the camera. I’ll keep things relaxed so you can simply cuddle, play and interact with one another while I capture the little looks, laughs and connections that happen naturally and show you just loving being together.
WHEN IS THE BEST AGE FOR BABY PHOTOS?
Any stage during your baby’s first year gives us something wonderful to capture.
3 to 5 Months (Tummy Time & Smiles): Babies are becoming more alert and expressive. They’re making eye contact, smiling, enjoying tummy time and beginning to show more of their personality.
6 to 10 Months (The “Sitter” Stage): often considered the sweet spot for baby photography, and one of my personal favourite milestones to photograph is when they’re sitting independently. They’re curious, interactive and often full of gorgeous expressions, while still having all those delicious baby rolls and features.
10 to 12 Months (On the Move & 1st Birthdays): As they approach their first birthday, they’re often crawling, pulling themselves up and perhaps even taking their first steps.
There is something worth remembering at every stage, so rather than waiting for the “perfect” age, think about which version of your baby you’d most love to capture.
Paula did our little ones first-year photos, and we loved the whole experience. She was so patient and put in 150% to get him laughing, which led to the most memorable shots.
